Aia Leu is a contemporary visual artist based in Kenmare, County Kerry, Ireland. She is known for her landscape paintings, inspired by nature, symbols, and artefacts. Her work combines observation with imagination, creating a unique and engaging world in her art.
Born in 1971, Formentera, Spain, Aia left at the age of three and spent her childhood in London, India, Nepal, and Switzerland. Growing up in an environment of different cultures had a strong influence on her perspective and creative development, she comes from an artistic background and is the granddaughter of the Swiss artist Eva Aeppli (who was married to Jean Tinguely)
Aia moved from London to Kenmare in 1989 where she has her art studio and home.
Her original paintings and limited edition giclée prints are available through her website and selected galleries. Her work is held in private collections, and she regularly exhibits at the Kenmare Courtyard Gallery, open daily on Henry Street. She is a member of Visual Artists Ireland.
In 2020, she completed a project for an award-winning tarot deck, resulting in over 78 paintings. She is currently working on a new series of oil paintings for a touring exhibition.
