The Project

In the summer of 2024, I completed a hand-painted mural off Henry Street in Kenmare, County Kerry, Ireland. Filled with bright colors, it celebrates the beauty of the Kenmare River, Sheen Falls, and the local landscape, bringing new life and charm to the town.

The Process: From Concept to Completion

Creating a mural is like painting on a larger, more dynamic canvas. The first step was preparing the wall by cleaning it thoroughly and applying primer for a smooth, durable surface which I was lucky to have Steve help with. As with any artwork, a good foundation is key to success.

I began with a detailed sketch to plan the design, then scaled it onto the wall using the classic grid system. This method ensured precision and helped transfer the design accurately to the large surface.

One of the unique advantages of this mural is its location under an archway, offering natural shelter from the unpredictable Irish weather. I hope it brings as much joy to viewers as it did for me to create.
