Leu Art Family. Caresser la peau du ciel
Museum Tinguely, 3 March – 31 October 2021
A wall-to-wall exhibition made up of artworks from one entire family of artists.
Felix Leu, the son of Swiss artist Eva Aeppli who was Jean Tinguely’s first wife, met Loretta in New York in 1965 at the opening of a Tinguely exhibition. As young artists they collaborated with Jean Tinguely and Niki de Saint Phalle on the building of their monumental sculpture for the 1967 Montreal Expo. In the late 1960s and 1970s, Felix and Loretta Leu followed their dream of a life of ‘art and freedom’ bringing up their four children along the way; Filip, Ama, Aia and Ajja.
This unique installation features works by all members; including extended members of the family, the exhibition offers a picture of this special universe. The exhibition includes paintings from Kerry based Swiss artist Aia Leu who has lived in Ireland for over 30 years. Her work is particularly influenced by both her years spent as a child in India, and the richness of the Irish landscape.
